Children Carry the Culture
Virginia Celtic Gathering and Highland Games takes special pleasure in developing activities for children and youth to experience their heritage and the Celtic Culture first hand. Plan your day to maximize your participation in the activities, tastes, and sights and sounds of all things Celtic
Children's Highland Games
Carolyn Topp takes to the field again to celebrate the Highland Athletic events with the younger set! With cabers and ribbons and award ceremonies, the children experience the thrill of being Highland Heavy Event Athletes! Sign up at the Parade Field. Watch the program and the schedule for the exact time.
Activities
Mixed amongst the vendors, find the activity tent where children are invited to make Celtic shields, shamrock wands, and more.
We have heard that a fairy is thinking of dropping by. More on that as we hear in the wind.
Music and Dance
Visit the Trad Pub to hear Cindy Kays sing delightful Celtic music just for the younger set. Cindy is half of the award-winning CShells children's duo and a regular on the Celtic circuit.
Stop by the Harp booth to find out when the Bodhran and Harp workshops will be held. The Dunham family will be playing on the Trad Pub!
The Rhythm of Ireland Dancers will perform at the Trad Pub in the afternoon.
And all the kids will love dancing and singing along to all the music at the Ceilidhs and Concerts.
Food and Drink
The food vendors will have all the items a good young Celt wants from oatcakes, to scones, to haggis, and meat pies! A Fanta or Iron Bru gives them a taste of treats in Isles.
